We understand that transportation is an essential part of the school experience for many students, and we are dedicated to ensuring that our bus service meets the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

INTRODUCTION

This document includes information to assist you in registering your children for the school bus service, ensuring a safe, comfortable, efficient, and trouble-free service. After carefully reading the information provided and completing the Transportation Form (Appendix 1), please submit it to the Student Affairs Department.

COMMUNICATION WITH THE COLLEGE REGARDING BUS MATTERS

College De La Salle / El Farier is committed to instilling proper conduct among its students in various situations. Therefore, the use of school buses is part of the educational process. Positive interaction between students, bus drivers, and monitors reflects our commitment to Lasallian education. To reinforce this direction, certain procedures and regulations have been established. This document outlines the responsibilities of both parents and students on one hand and the college on the other:

  • Parents must strictly adhere to the specified times for students to board the bus in the morning and ensure their readiness at the designated waiting point five minutes before the scheduled bus arrival. The driver will wait at the pick-up point for only one minute. After this time, the bus will depart. If a student misses the morning bus round, parents are responsible for transporting their child to school.
  • It is the parent’s responsibility to pick up their child from the school for Kindergarten and Elementary (Grades 1-3) at the agreed bus stop in the morning or upon return in the afternoon. If parents are not present at the designated time, the bus driver will return the student to school. Therefore, parents must arrange to pick up their child from school, and the bus will not provide return transportation.
  • Should a parent encounter any issue related to the use of school buses, they should directly approach the college administration without engaging with the driver, monitor, or any student under any circumstances.
  • Parents are prohibited from boarding the bus, issuing orders to the bus driver or monitor, or speaking to any student other than their own.

BUS ROUTE CHANGES

Parents must inform the administration in advance and in writing of any permanent changes to their child’s bus route. Sufficient time should be provided for the school to verify seat availability on the new bus route. Parents are responsible for coordinating this with the transportation department. If parents wish to transport their child to school for only one day and not use the bus in the morning, they must notify the transportation department the day before. If parents wish to transport their child for only one day and not use the bus for the return trip on the same day, they must inform the transportation department before 11:00 AM on that day.
If parents wish to have someone else transport their child to Kindergarten or Elementary and not use the bus for the return trip on the same day, parents must provide the name of the person and their relationship, and the person must present their ID to the administration before taking the student.

BUS DELAY

School bus schedules are precise and directly linked to school hours. However, under exceptional circumstances, changes may occur, such as:

  •  Emergency weather conditions.
  • Sudden bus breakdown or accident.
  • Unusual road conditions (crisis, demonstrations)

In such cases, the Student Affairs Department will contact parents to inform them of the delay and its cause. If the bus does not arrive at the scheduled time and the school has not contacted parents regarding the delay, the student should wait for ten minutes before contacting the school administration.

BEHAVIORAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

Students using the school bus service must adhere to the following rules and regulations:

  • It is prohibited to bring any non-registered student onto the bus.
  • Students must arrive at the designated waiting point five minutes before the scheduled time.

  • Students must proceed directly to the bus departure point after the last lesson bell rings, as buses depart ten minutes after the final bell.

  • It is strictly forbidden to talk to the driver while driving.
  • Students must not lean out of windows, make gestures, or inappropriate movements.

DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES

In case of any violation or unacceptable behavior on the school bus, the tour monitor will submit a detailed report to the college administration. The college will investigate the incident, and inform the parent of the investigation outcome, and the resulting penalty for the violation. The imposed penalty will depend on the severity and recurrence of the behavior.

Unacceptable behaviors are categorized into four levels:

  • Level 1: Unacceptable Behavior
  • Level 2: Repeated Level 1 Violations
  • Level 3: Repeated Level 1 and 2 Violations
  • Level 4: Repeated Level 3 Violations

The penalty imposed will range from a warning to a temporary suspension of bus privileges for 1-10 days, depending on the severity and frequency of the behavior. In case of repeated violations, permanent suspension from using the school bus may be enforced.
