This programme applies ongoing assessments from grades 1 till 3. According to the upper grades, grades 4 till 11, students sit for mid-term and final assessments in addition to observational ones. The final year, grade 12, students sit for the Tawjihi exam which is settled by the ministry of education.

Cambridge

Cambridge Programme

The Cambridge IGCSE curriculum supports learners with a variety of unique experiences that fit different abilities.

The programme is designed to have a vertical and horizontal articulation for each subjects’ specific needs. Starting from a foundation of core subjects, it is easy to add breadth and cross-curricular perspectives. Encouraging learners to engage with a variety of subjects, and make connections between them, is fundamental to our approach.

The Cambridge IGCSE offers a flexible and stimulating curriculum, supported with excellent resources as teachers are well trained to enrich students with the best quality of learning. For learners, Cambridge IGCSE helps improve performance by developing skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving that align with our school mission.

IGCSE is an international qualification. It is recognized by leading universities. It is an international passport to progression and success.

International Baccalaureate (MYP)

College De La Salle (Freres), is an authorized school for the MYP and part of IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy -a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.

International Baccalaureate (DP)

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is an assessed programme for students’ aged 16 to 19. It is respected by the top universities across the globe.

With the DP, schools are able to develop students who:

-Have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge.

-Flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally, and ethically.

-Study at least two languages.

-Excel in traditional academic subjects.

-Explore the nature of knowledge.

The curriculum is made up of the DP core and six subject groups. The DP core aims to expand students’ educational experience and challenge them to apply their skills and knowledge.

The three core elements are:

Theory of knowledge, in which students reflect on the nature of knowledge and on how we know what we claim to know.

The extended essay, which is an independent, self-directed piece of research, is completed with a 4000-word paper.

Creativity, activity, and service, in which a project related to those three concepts needs to be completed by the students.

The six subject groups are:

-Studies in language and literature

-Language acquisition

-Individuals and societies

-Sciences

-Mathematics

-The arts

Within each subject group, there are different courses.

Students will take some subjects at a higher level (HL) and some at a standard level (SL). HL and SL courses differ in scope but are measured according to the same grade descriptors, with students expected to demonstrate a greater body of knowledge, understanding, and skills at a higher level.

The school promotes artistry among students in visual and performing arts, catering for our student’s needs by providing the right facilities, such as a fully equipped art studio, performing art rooms and the availability of the school theatre for different performances.

Our students, across all streams, are welcomed to express their innovative and creative abilities, with the guidance of our educational art teams, through a variety of curricular, extra-curricular activities and school events.

Touring Museum visit:

The touring museum, one of the National Gallery of Fine Arts initiatives, visited our Years 1 & 2 MYP students. The students were introduced to the local art scene by artist Suheil Baqaeen and created beautiful artworks inspired by what they saw. The students connected this visit to November’s unit about art history, researching personal and cultural expressions in art.

Annual Art Exhibition:

As Art plays a huge role in shaping our youth’s character, the annual art exhibition highlights the talented and hardworking students we have in the school. Showcasing a plethora of artwork crafted by using different skills and techniques that were taught all year through.

Choir and Musical performances:

Sounds and the expression of tones and notes are highlighted during our yearly Christmas choir performances and musicals across sections.

Theatre production:

In connection with famous literature, our drama students put together a magical performance that takes us back in time. From the dazzling costumes to the colourful lines that each character embodies, these productions leave viewers engaged with utter joy.

Book Fair:

At College de La Salle, reading assumes the highest priority, as we aim to stimulate our students to become life-long learners, and what better way to learn than through reading. College de La Salle hosts an annual book fair at the library in cooperation with a plethora of renowned publishing companies in Amman, Jordan. We hold two book fairs a year. One for the Primary school section, and another for the Middle and High school sections. The book fair includes books in Arabic, English and French as those are considered to be the main languages at our school.

Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)

College de la Salle Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is a committee of parents, teachers and staff members who are elected to represent certain ideas and concerns in the school, to discuss students’ academic and behavioural issues and to develop the overall learning experience. As we believe in the huge role parents’ feedback plays in the well-being of our students, which is the common goal of the committee, we communicate and collaborate with parents, listen to their opinions and work together to achieve our goal.

The PTA association strengthens the connection between school and home. The result of this collaboration is evident through school events and activities which add to the student’s learning experience and develop their talents and potential.

Each bus includes a chaperon to ensure the safety of our students.

College de la salle believes that differentiation is crucial and that all students should be included in the learning process.

In de la Salle, we have a strong support system of specialized support teachers for English, Arabic and Math to ensure that all students receive the best education.

The role of a support teacher in class is to ensure that all students are engaged in the learning process and understand the material presented. Their job is to also differentiate low achievers and give them the support they need in and out of class. In-class support includes going over the material again in a simplified way as well as giving extra worksheets or activities to ensure the full understanding of the student. In exams, some students receive differentiated exams to make sure they get the evaluation they deserve. Our support team keeps track of low achievers’ progress and provides material revisions regularly.
